In-home day, night, and live-in support across Lamorinda, Concord, Walnut Creek, and the I-680 corridor
Contra Costa County reaches from the Caldecott Tunnel out through Lamorinda, the I-680 corridor, and the Delta communities. Our doulas have been supporting Contra Costa families since 2001, providing the kind of in-home daily care that lets new parents actually rest, recover, and bond with their baby without trying to do it all alone.
We serve families throughout Walnut Creek (see our Walnut Creek page for detailed local coverage), Concord, Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Clayton, and east into Pittsburg, Antioch, and Brentwood, plus west to Hercules, Pinole, El Cerrito, and Richmond. We coordinate hospital-to-home transitions with all major Contra Costa hospitals.
Contra Costa County is one of the most economically and geographically diverse regions of the Bay Area. The Lamorinda communities — Lafayette, Orinda, and Moraga — are tight-knit, family-oriented, and full of professionals commuting through the Caldecott to Oakland and San Francisco. Walnut Creek and Concord anchor the central county with major medical centers and the I-680 corridor's office towers. East Contra Costa — Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood — has its own community character, with families often working in trades, healthcare, and increasingly in remote tech roles.
Our Contra Costa doulas understand that families' needs vary dramatically across the county. A Lafayette couple coming home from John Muir Walnut Creek with their first baby has different needs than an Antioch family welcoming their third child via Sutter Delta. Common across all of them: the postpartum window is the most demanding stretch of new parenthood, and steady hands-on help makes the difference between barely surviving it and actually thriving through it.
4-6 hour shifts, 2-5 days per week. Very common in Lamorinda and Walnut Creek where one parent typically commutes through the Caldecott. The at-home parent gets hands-on help with breastfeeding, infant care while they nap, sibling support, light meal prep, and a knowledgeable second set of hands during the day.
Learn more →8-10 hour overnight shifts, 1-7 nights per week. The doula handles overnight feeds and sleep cycles so parents get 6+ uninterrupted hours. Common configuration: 3 overnights/week for 6-8 weeks, especially for Walnut Creek, Lafayette, and Concord families where commute distances are manageable for doulas.
Learn more →Multi-day or multi-week continuous care. Often used by East Contra Costa families where doula commute distances make nightly overnight shifts impractical, or by Lamorinda families with twins or NICU graduates who need extra continuous attention.
Learn more →Every shift includes infant care (feeding, burping, diapering, soothing, swaddling), breastfeeding and lactation support, bottle-feeding support, newborn observation, sleep hygiene coaching for parents, sibling support, light meal preparation, light tidying of baby spaces, emotional support and listening, and referrals to IBCLCs, pelvic floor PT, and perinatal mental health providers when needed.
We don't diagnose, prescribe, or replace your medical team — we complement your pediatrician, midwife, and OB with practical day-to-day support.
Contra Costa rates typically run $45-$65/hour daytime and $50-$75/hour overnight. Common packages:
With Carrot through Chevron (San Ramon HQ), or HSA/FSA dollars, families commonly offset a significant portion of these costs.
