In-home day, night, and live-in support across Marin, Solano, and the northern Bay
The North Bay spans intimate communities tucked into the hills of southern Marin, the open spaces of northern Marin and Sonoma, and the Solano County cities along the I-80 corridor. North Bay families share something unique: a deep appreciation for slow living and community-rooted care that postpartum doula support embodies completely. We've been serving North Bay families since 2001.
Our doulas provide in-home daytime, overnight, and live-in postpartum support throughout Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon, Belvedere, Larkspur, Corte Madera, San Rafael, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Novato, and into Solano County including Vallejo, American Canyon, and Benicia. Live-in support is especially popular in the North Bay because it eliminates the commute and gives families continuous overnight care.
For Marin-specific support including detailed neighborhood coverage, see our Marin County page. For Sonoma-specific support including wine-country communities, see our Sonoma page.
North Bay families have a different rhythm than their counterparts across the bridge. The pace is slower, the natural world is closer at hand, and there's a deep cultural appreciation for slowing down — for honoring the fourth trimester rather than racing through it. Many North Bay parents are coming from creative careers, healthcare, education, or remote tech roles, often with deliberate choices to settle where the schools are good and the weekends are spent at Tennessee Valley or Stinson Beach. First-time parents are typically in their early-to-mid 30s; we also see many second- and third-time parents with toddlers underfoot who need real hands-on help.
The geography matters here in ways it doesn't elsewhere in the Bay. A doula commuting from Sausalito to Novato is a 30-minute drive — manageable for daytime support but unsustainable for nightly overnight shifts. That's why live-in doula care is the most popular configuration we offer in the North Bay: a doula stays in your home for multi-week stretches, providing continuous overnight care, daytime help, and the kind of steady presence that makes the first six weeks feel survivable.
We've also supported many North Bay families through the unique challenges of distance — grandparents in Boston or Tokyo, partners traveling for work, and the reality that close friends with new babies are often a 45-minute drive away. Our doulas become a steady, present part of your daily life during a season when so much else is in flux.
A doula stays in your home for multi-day or multi-week stretches, providing continuous overnight infant care, daytime hands-on help, and uninterrupted family support. Eliminates commuting and gives families consistent presence. Common configurations: 2 weeks of full live-in immediately after coming home, then transitioning to overnight-only or daytime-only shifts as parents recover.
Learn more →8-10 hour overnight shifts, 1-7 nights per week. Suited to southern Marin families (Sausalito, Mill Valley, Larkspur, Corte Madera) where the commute from doulas based in the East Bay or San Francisco is feasible. The doula handles overnight feeds and sleep cycles so parents get 6+ uninterrupted hours.
Learn more →4-6 hour shifts, 2-5 days per week. Ideal for North Bay families where one parent is at home and needs hands-on daytime help with breastfeeding, infant care, sibling support, and a knowledgeable second set of hands.
Learn more →Every shift includes infant care (feeding, burping, diapering, soothing, swaddling), breastfeeding and lactation support, bottle-feeding support, newborn observation, sleep hygiene coaching, sibling support, light meal preparation, light tidying of baby spaces, emotional support and listening, and referrals to IBCLCs, pelvic floor PT, and perinatal mental health providers when needed.
We don't diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or replace your pediatrician, midwife, or OB. We're a complement to your medical team focused on practical day-to-day care.
North Bay rates typically run $45-$65/hour daytime and $50-$75/hour overnight. Live-in is typically a daily rate covering 24-hour presence (with appropriate doula rest periods). Common North Bay packages:
We accept HSA/FSA and Carrot/Maven/Progyny for families with those benefits. Superbills are available for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
